Tenrikyo Ofudesaki - The Services - Determine to Settle the Mind-

Although many of those around her were willing to accept Miki as a god among other gods they were not interested in performing the Service; that is to say that no one wanted to make a determined effort to do the work of calming and clearing their mind to the extent necessary for returning it to its origin pristine condition and awakening to the knowledge and understanding of the original cause of everything in detail.

Instead everybody, or just about everybody, wanted to satisfy the same kinds of expectations and perceived needs - The poems address those misunderstandings as they commonly appeared in a particular time and place but they are just "flavors" of similar ideas and truths of the world that occupy human imaginations in all times and places -  that Miki and her family had held as truths of their world prior to her awakening. That is they wished to satisfy the expectations that they brought with them as truths of the world and were actually quite frank in stating that they didn't really have the time for the Service or interest in working to calm, clear and settle their mind in order to reveal its origin, the original cause of all things. Instead they were interested in and expected magical healing for whatever complaint they had at the time. That I know of there are no stories of anyone coming to the residence to learn the original cause of all things.

As your humans are shallow,
You say that all marvels are magic.
Even now though God is openly revealed,
there is yet no one who knows the truth.
