Tenrikyo Ofudesaki An Equal Affinity of all for the One Original Cause
Ponder this deeply: All of our ideas of self, our self-centered imaginations, rise up from the same original consciousness. That original consciousness is the original cause of all that anyone has ever known or experienced; without it "lighting up" reflective instruments, bodies of one kind or another, nothing can ever appear to be known or imagined.
This teaching of the original cause anchors a theme that we will explore in detail later. For now reflect on how the relationship between the original conscious cause and the reflected self-centered imagination play out in the way such metaphors as "China and Japan", "Moonsun", "Fire and Water" and "Fire, Water and Wind" are used in the Poems.
Please pause here and take a moment to identify the original cause and the appearance of the reflected imagination in your own mind. The sincere effort to do so is an exercise in "pondering deeply" and it will be rewarded.
