Tenrikyo Ofudesaki - I Shall Use Another Name -
The truth of origin, the original conscious mind of God, resides at the heart and core of the human mind and exists prior to names, forms and concepts. The human self-centered imagination is however naturally turned outward into the world and is primarily concerned with names, forms and concepts as they exist in relationship to each other and to its ideas of itself. That is how the state and truths of our world are created and viewed in relation to our self image or self-centered imagination and are dependent upon the state of our mind.
The worldly common orientation of the self-centered imagination is natural as was intended, however it is also intended that the self-cenered imagination be a tool for the enjoyment of life and not as a burdensome source of suffering, fear, anxiety and greed. To fix that unintended consequence, the human self-centered imagination is being called back to its origin where it can be upgraded and repaired by the knowledge and undersanding of its true immortal origin. Then, after being quickly awakened, returned to the world of names, forms and concepts with the realization of intended experience of a joyus life for all equally.
It is because of that natural tendency the human self-centered imagination to find it impossible to ponder anything other than things and concepts that have names and forms that, out of deep parental love, the human self-centered imagination is accommodated by our original parent through the provision of names for God as well as objects, concepts and forms for the human self-centered imagination to be used quickly and sincerely to focus on single-hearted devotion. All such devotional aids are of course intended to be appropriate for the time, the place and the spiritual maturity of the "children".
Since, in truth there is only the one original cause of all things, that one doesn't need a name as there is no other to talk to. Having created the constantly changing appearance of many out of itself the one then is engaging in self talk to try and bring the free and unlimited workings of that creation back into line with the intended joy of life in the experience of being many. That self talk then employs whatever names and means are necessary to bring awaken the creation of human beings to the truth of their origin and the intention of the creation.
