Tenrikyo Ofudesaki - Human Beings are Indeed Shallow -
Perhaps our ordinary view of "shallow" thinking vs. "deep thinking" assumes that "shallow thinking" is common and easy as opposed to "deep thinking" which is difficult and requires some kind of specialized education or vocabulary.
The poem above informs us that both of those ordinary views are shallow; what is intended then is that the distinction be clearly made and understood between all human thoughts, that is things already visible to the human mind, and the original consciousness that all of our thoughts rise out of, that is to say before they appear and are visible in the human mind.
This distinction between things before they appear and after they appear will come up again in the Theme Section but this is a good opportunity to make the distinction now instead of waiting for the theme to appear.
