Tenrikyo-Ofudesaki - Checking My Vocabulary - "Verse" - "Prose"

Words looked up in the Dictionary"Verse" - "A line of poetry having a determined rhythmical pattern. Metrical writing; that which is composed in measured rhythms; hence poetry, a poem."

"Prose" -"The ordinary language in speaking or writing - opposed to verse or poetry.

Even though the translations of the Poems "the Tip of the Writing Brush" are in prose, the "Waka" meter of the poems having been lost in the translation; the translators have done a very good job of keeping the visual format and appearance of poetry and that, in my opinion, is enough to inform my mind that I am not reading prose with ordinary meanings but poetry with metaphoric meanings.
